The promise of California is that somewhere the perfect day is happening, right now. The sky is clear and the air is warm. The sun shines smoothly on a flat, sofa-sized rock next to a pool that's 72 degrees. Somewhere the perfect day is happening, and here are the numbers to prove it.
Swimming Holes of California features 105 hikes. The summer season is 140-days long, beginning April 15 in the southern deserts and ending late September in the Sierra. Scientific calculations demonstrate that only once in more than 2,000 years will it not be perfect at a swimming hole somewhere in California.
Photos and descriptions are available by clicking on the colored areas of the map or the corresponding chapter links below. Photos and reviews are available to the public as are many of the maps with directions. Others require membership. So grab a pair of shorts and have fun checking my math.
